What You Will Need to DIY Your Own Dual Duty Weekend Bag

  • 1.37m of home décor fabric that is 45 inches wide
  • Cotton fabric for lining 1 ½ yards
  • ¼ yard or contrast home décor fabric for the pocket
  • Fusible fleece 1 ½ yards
  • Webbing 3 yards by 1 inch wide
  • Stiff plastic canvas 7 ½ inches by 17 ¼ inches
  • Two zippers of 12 inches and two zippers of 14 inches
  • Two 1-inch rectangular metal rings
  • Two 1 ¾ swivel metal hooks
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • A sewing machine
  • A zipper foot
  • Matching thread

Cutting

From the fusible fleece and home décor fabric, cut;

  • Two bag bodies
  • 2 strips of 4 ½ inches by 28 ½ inches for the zipper gussets.
  • For the sides, two squares of 8 ½ inches.
  • 1 strop for the bottom of 8 ½ inches by 18 ½ inches
  • 2 strips for the shoulder straps of 4 ½ by 24 ½ inches

From the cotton lining fabric, cut;

  • 2 bag bodies
  • 2 strips for the zipper gussets of 4 ½ by 28 ½ inches
  • 2 squares of 8 ½ inches for the sides.
  • 1 strip for the bottom measuring 8 ½ by 18 ½ inches
  • 2 rectangles for the inside pockets measuring 8 by 9 inches.

From the contrast home décor fabric, cut;

  • 1 strip for the outside pocket measuring 7 inches by 18 ½ inches.

Remember the seam allowance for this bag is ½ an inch all through.
